A tribute to Sarah Burton who passed away in November 2024.
The West Midlands PR community suffered a loss this week with the news of Sarah Burton’s passing from cancer. Her departure leaves a void in the industry, a testament to her decades-long contribution to the region’s PR landscape.
I only had the privilege of working closely with Sarah in recent years at 8848. However, our paths had crossed numerous times throughout the years. A familiar face at industry events and a frequent LinkedIn connection, Sarah was a well-known and respected figure in the West Midlands PR scene.
What truly struck me about Sarah was her unwavering dedication to the craft of PR. Sarah possessed a deep understanding of the industry. She had a talent for building strong client relationships. She also had a knack for crafting compelling narratives that resonated with the media. Her ability to execute campaigns flawlessly, from inception to completion, was truly inspiring.
In an era where remote work and AI are increasingly prevalent, the value of experienced professionals like Sarah cannot be overstated. Her methodical approach, attention to detail and commitment to mentoring younger talent were invaluable assets to the industry.
While the industry undoubtedly boasts a wealth of emerging talent, the guidance and wisdom of seasoned professionals like Sarah are essential for their growth and development.
Rest in peace, Sarah. Your contributions to the industry will be remembered and cherished by those who knew and worked with you.
