Transforming Wheeldon Trees Cottages – A Case Study in Branding and Guest Experience.
It’s no secret that alongside my marketing work, I also lend a hand to the family business. Wheeldon Trees Cottages is a luxury retreat in the Peak District. We bought it in 2021 and the first task was to revitalise the brand and elevate the guest experience. Our focus was to capitalise on Wheeldon Trees’ stunning surroundings and exceptional accommodations.
Our initial focus was on creating a brand identity that resonated with the retreat’s serene ambience. Collaborating with the team at my former design agency 8848, we developed a visual language that incorporated calming colours, elegant typography, and imagery showcasing the cottages’ charm.
This new brand identity was seamlessly integrated into every guest touchpoint. From the initial website experience to booking confirmations, welcome booklets, and in-cottage amenities, each interaction reinforced the elevated brand experience. I extended the branding to physical elements such as signage, welcome bags, and even custom wallpaper, ensuring a cohesive and immersive journey for guests.
My work extended beyond visual branding. In 2023, I launched a bespoke bath and body range that complemented the luxury experience.
Through this comprehensive branding strategy, Wheeldon Trees has successfully transformed its guest experience. It has also reinforced its position as a premier luxury retreat. The meticulous attention to detail and seamless integration of the brand identity across all touchpoints have contributed to the company’s continued success and positive guest reviews.
Thankfully, I can’t see me being kicked out the family business any time soon – bookings are up, the reviews are five star and our return rate has never been better.
